Following the success of the VE based E1 and E2 HSV model lines, E Series 3 was
introduced utilising the VE Series 2 platform. LS3 was standard across the whole range, with
GTS receiving a tuned LS3 producing 325kw. As well as minor body modifications such as
the new rear spoiler, the interior received the biggest change with the introduction of Holden’s
touch screen ‘IQ’ system, which featured HSVs Enhanced Driver Interface across HSV
specific models. The EDI system was programmed to provide the driver with live feedback
based on the vehicles performance such as G-Force, dynamics, fuel economy and oil and
voltage gauges.

This particular example an HSV E Series 3 GTS, assembled in Holden Special Vehicles
Clayton production facility in 2011. New to the E3 colour range was ‘Hazard Yellow’, the hero
colour for the promotional vehicle and of which this E3 GTS is finished in too. Complimenting
the striking yellow exterior is a series of black accents that appear throughout, most notably
the roof and original ‘E3 Performance’ alloy wheels. As per the HSV tag affixed to the front
support, this example is Build Number 0767.

The interior features a plethora of HSV specific features such as ‘HSV performance’ bolstered
seats with HSV logo embroidery, sports leather wrapped steering wheel, HSV EDI system,
HSV triple centre gauges, HSV oracle instrument cluster and ‘GTS’ insignia on centre
console. This E3 GTS is also optioned with the ‘Onyx’ black leather trim with white stitching
throughout.

As per E3 GTS specification, this example houses a 6.2 litre Generation 4 LS3 V8, capable of
producing 325kw of power and 550nm of torque in stock form. This example also features the
6-speed automatic transmission with active select and LSD rear. However, since leaving the
factory, this LS3 has had a Yella Terra-Whipple supercharger strapped to it, making this E3 a
serious street powerhouse.

As far as HSVs VE range of contemporary muscle cars go, it does not get much better than
